Embrace the Word ~ December 2024: Bold Celebration – Joy to the World Week 2
Hello friends!
December is moving by quickly! We are already in Week Two of the Embrace the Word study A Bold Celebration: Joy to the World. One of the passages we explored last week was Isaiah 61:1-3, where the promised Anointed One would come ministering His manifold grace to us.

Have you ever had a broken bone? The pain of a fractured bone can be one of the most painful things someone can endure. At times, the area of the fracture never fully reverts to its pre-break state. Even after it has healed, you are leery when using it and are very protective of it.
Even though it is not a physical break, one of the greatest pains we can experience is the pain of a broken heart. When we hear “broken heart,” we naturally think of failed relationships; however, a broken heart can come from many different sources. One can be brokenhearted because of a missed opportunity; another can be brokenhearted because of a past failure. But no matter the cause, the pain is as palpable as a broken bone. Your heart is never the same.
You become cautious of what you do, where you go, and to whom you open up. A shattered heart can leave an individual who was once vibrant and lively feeling sorrowful and despondent.
There is no padding for the heart as there is for the shoulder. There is no brace as there is for the knee. There is no steel protection as it is for the toes. But there is Jesus, and He said, “I’ve come to heal the brokenhearted.”
Isaiah prophesied about the Anointed One who would come to bind up the brokenhearted. He will heal and restore those who are hurting emotionally and spiritually, providing comfort and support.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn. Isaiah 61:1-2
Jesus stood in the synagogue in Luke 4:18-19 confirming that He indeed is that Anointed One who has come to heal.
When Jesus heals, it is a complete healing. Immediately, the pain of the brokenness is gone, and the tenderness fades away. The fear of loving again and trusting again gives way to complete healing and so much joy!
This season, as we celebrate the Savior who came to heal the brokenhearted, let His promises reign in your life as well. You can say goodbye to brokenness and embrace the healing power of Christ. Open up your heart and let Him heal your brokenness.
This week, we look at “Preparing the Way!” As the lyrics to Joy to the World admonish, every heart should prepare Him room! Make room for Jesus this season. Give Him the first place in your heart!
