Hello Family!

I am so excited to say this for the third year: “Let’s Spend Summer in the Psalms!” Each July, we Embrace the Word by studying the Psalms.

(Link to the FREE Devotional Guide at the end of this email)

The Psalms, a magnificent compilation of poems and worship songs spanning Israel’s history, encapsulate a broad spectrum of human emotions. Each psalmist transparently expresses their heart to God through praise, repentance, adoration, frustration, and more. Through the Psalms, we discover that we can always run to God. We also find that we can trust God in every circumstance because He is entirely trustworthy.

This ETW Summer in the Psalms will focus on “Bold Trust.” Through 5 different Psalms, we will explore various aspects of God’s character and a specific dimension of trust:

  • Psalm 27: Trust His Timing – This Psalm speaks about waiting on the Lord, being patient, and trusting His perfect timing.
  • Psalm 62: Trust His Power—This Psalm focuses on finding refuge and strength in God alone, trusting in His sovereignty and mighty power to sustain us.
  • Psalm 91: Trust His Presence – Psalm 91 emphasizes the protection and shelter found in God’s presence, encouraging us to trust in His constant care and watchfulness over our lives.
  • Psalm 118: Trust His Steadfast Love – This Psalm celebrates God’s enduring love and faithfulness, urging us to trust His everlasting love for us.
  • Psalm 146: Trust His Help – The final Psalm reveals the importance of trusting God as our helper, acknowledging His role as the ultimate source of aid in times of need.

Each of these Psalms provides a unique perspective on trust in God, encompassing His timing, power, presence, steadfast love, and help. Together, they form a comprehensive picture of “bold trust” in the Lord.

Like last year, July’s Embrace the Word Summer in the Psalms plan will include a daily passage of scripture to read, write, and ponder. There will also be a weekly devotional guide with daily devotions and a weekly passage of scripture to memorize to help you engage with the Word of God. “I Will Wednesdays” will also return this month. We will explore some of the Psalms’ most beautiful “I Will” passages.
