Standing on the Word 7/13/2020

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:9-10

As I scroll on my personal timeline, I continue to see snappy, sarcastic, derisive posts aimed at a person or group of people. Sadly, some of these posts are made by those in the Body of Christ. I can relate.  It is so easy to go on social media and “tell it like it is.” You’re just getting things off your chest and speaking your truth, right?  Well, I’m reminded of Paul’s directions in Romans.  Chapter 12 begins with Paul urging believers to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, to resist the world’s way of doing things, and be transformed to living a life that honors God.

Paul goes on and lists attributes of a life that honors God. In vs 9, he admonishes us to love well. Let our love be sincere, not hiding behind a mask, but really truly loving.  Hate what is evil; despise and resist the temptation to give in to it.  Live to love one another! Love them so much so that you put them first.  Above your hurt feelings, above your desire to get even, and above your need to get things off your chest, choose the way of love.
