Write the Word November 2021 (Oh, Give Thanks)

Hello friends,

It’s November!

If you’ve been a part of the Sparrow’s Song family for a while, you know that each year we take time in November to reflect on being thankful. Many people reflect on thankfulness each November. However, it is not stale, or cliche-ish because we approach thankfulness through the Word of God. This year does, however, feel a little different.

2021 is coming to a close. And as wild as 2020 was, for some 2021 brought just as many challenges, painful experiences, and overwhelming circumstances. Even amid my own distress, I have been moving to fervently pray and intercede for others during this season of testing and trial. Yes, dear friends, I have been praying for you.

In my time of prayer, the Lord so gently reminds me of His faithfulness. EVERY DAY of our lives, the Lord is faithful. He is good to us. He is working on our behalf. Even in your pain, He is there. Even in a crisis, He is a very present help!

Sometimes our troubles can shift our focus from the goodness of our God. When that happens, we have the propensity to complain, which leads to more distress. That is why it is important to be intentional about giving thanks.

This month, with intention, put your focus back on Jesus! Reflect on all of His goodness, mercy, and lovingkindness. Think of every way that He has made, and every tear He has dried. Ponder on His love and grace. Remember that He is a Faithful Friend!

We will write passages like:

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34

It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night. Psalm 92:1-2

As you write, let your heart burst forth with thanksgiving, because God is Good. Celebrate the goodness of the Lord with thanksgiving!

I would love to hear from you. Join the Sparrow’s Song Facebook Group here. I love hearing how you’ve been blessed through the Word of God!

Your friend in the journey,

Erica
