2023 Year in review: December – Celebrate The Savior at Christmastime

AND December! I love December for many reasons. I love ALL things CHRISTmas; December is my birthday month; and I am a boot, sweater, and fuzzy sock kind of girl!

What I love most about the season is the celebration of our Savior, Jesus. Jesus is the reason for our holiday celebration!  At Christmas, we celebrate the arrival of our Savior. He left Heaven and came to Earth to save us!

If you followed along with the devotional guide, you know we ended the month in the first chapter of John, which tells about Jesus’ coming in a different sense. John doesn’t describe the how, but more of the why He came. He tells how He came to be a light in a dark world.

If you have accepted Jesus as Savior, we have come out of darkness into His marvelous light. We should be so excited about the treasure we possess, that we are willing to boldly share the light of God’s love with everyone we know.

Consider John the baptizer’s bold declaration:

  • John boldly declared, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
  • John declared Jesus is greater, more significant, and far more superior than him.
  • John gave eyewitness evidence of who Jesus is. He heard and saw God confirm His son with a dove descending. The Holy Spirit did not just rest upon Him, but He stayed with Him.
  • John testified that Jesus is the Son of God! He was not ashamed or apprehensive; He boldly shared the truth.

We should eagerly bear witness to the identity of Jesus. We should testify of His love and His kindness. We should share all that He has accomplished in our lives. As Romans 1:16 states, we should boldly proclaim the Light in our lives. We should overflow with joy because we have found the greatest Treasure of all!
