A Work In Progress

We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 NIV

I am a masterpiece!  Even though many times I feel like a mess.  My emotions can run wild, I can’t seem to get organized, I can’t find to time to do all of the things that must be done.  Not to mention my hair!  A mess!  But if I stop for a moment and consider who I am and who I am becoming I can relax and trust that God is working on me and in me.

I am The Father’s creation and He created me for purpose. There is purpose laid out for me, a divine assignment that has been prepared just for me. And with that purpose comes responsibility.  I cannot walk in my purpose in the flesh.  My self-will, my insecurities, my fears,–Me!  I’d just get the away.  That is why I have to yield to the Holy Spirit and allow His to do a work in me.  This requires a circumcision of the heart (Romans 2:29).  He is cutting away my pride. He is cutting away my selfish will.  He is cutting away those things that are not like Him.  The things that don’t reflect His nature, His character, His beauty.  The cutting away never feels good, but the result is a life lived in grace and character, shining in His righteousness.

I belong to the master.  He is making me, molding me into what I should be.  Yet, He sees the end from the beginning.  He sees my potential even when I feel like I have none.   There is purpose for me!  God is working on me.  He is working in me.  I’m a work in progress and a masterpiece all at the same time.

We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 NIV

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)
