Hi Family,

Welcome to Week 4 of our Embrace the Word study, Anchored: Hope in God’s Promises.

We have made it through the open seas, the howling winds, and the terrifying darkness of Acts 27. This week, we are finally stepping onto the shore of Acts 28 to discover that the same God who watched over the wreck is the same God who pulls us onto the rock.

Last week, we watched Paul navigate the climax of the shipwreck and step onto the island of Malta. We learned that a pause in our journey is actually a post for our purpose, and that even when our circumstances feel completely restricted and chained, God’s Word is never unchained.

In Acts 27:44, we read that when the ship shattered, the survivors reached land, some on planks made from the ship. God didn’t save the ship, but He preserved the lives of the people on board. Many reached land, clinging to planks of the shattered vessel, a vivid reminder that even in our most desperate times, God can use the very fragments of our struggles to bring us to safety.

This scene beautifully illustrates God’s sovereignty and mercy, showing that hope can often be found amidst brokenness. It challenges us to consider what we are holding onto when life feels overwhelming. As you reflect on this, take a moment to think deeply about your own life. What are the fragments of grace that are sustaining you today?

In your journal this week, draw a simple wooden plank. Inside that plank, answer this question: What am I holding onto today?

Is it a specific verse that has been a source of strength for you? A cherished memory of God’s past kindness that brings comfort? Or perhaps a small, fragile bit of hope that illuminates your path forward? When everything else around you feels like it’s breaking apart, write down that specific fragment of grace you are gripping tightly, trusting that God is leading you safely to the shore. Let this exercise be a reminder of the resilience of faith amidst life’s storms.

Keep leaning into God’s promises, and may His peace guide you as you navigate your journey. Looking forward to hearing your reflections!
