Anchored:Hope In God’s Promises Week 3

Hi Sparrows Song Family,

Welcome to Week 3 of our Embrace the Word study, Anchored: Hope in God’s Promises, a study of Acts 27 and 28. We have seen God move in so many ways right in the middle of a storm. All the while, Paul stayed anchored to what God said: “You must testify also in Rome.”

Last week, we moved from the deceptive breeze into the full weight of the storm. We watched as the stars went dark and all human hope was lost. It was then that an angel spoke to Paul, reminding him of the promise. We learned that faith isn’t ignoring the storm; it’s choosing to believe God’s Word over our own sight, trusting that His “Yes” confirmed in Jesus, so we say “Amen!” (2 Corinthians 1:20).

This week, let’s embrace Isaiah 43:2:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Nothing brings peace to our hearts like the presence of God. In the middle of life’s storms, His presence reassures us that we are never alone.

Knowing that God is present in our storms is important because this week, we reach the climax of the shipwreck. We are going to discover the beauty of survival by grace.

We’ll see that God’s promise is to save you, not necessarily your “ship”. Sometimes the very thing we thought would carry us to the finish line has to break so that we learn to lean entirely on His grace. Whether you are swimming for the shore or clinging to a “broken board,” hope is recognizing God’s hand even in the wreckage. Hope is recognizing that God is riding out the storm with you.

This Week’s Focus:

• The Four Anchors: Learning to wait for the morning.
• Stay with the Ship: Cutting the ropes of our backup plans.
• Planks and Pieces: Trusting God to save us through the fragments.

Let’s keep our eyes on the shore. He is bringing us in!
