April 2025 “Jesus, the Worthy Lamb of God” ~ Week 2
Hello family!
Welcome to the Week Two of the Embrace the Word Study: Jesus, the Worthy Lamb of God. Last week, we looked at Isaiah’s prophecy about the Suffering Servant, Jesus Christ, our Lord. I hope we took time this week to remember, reflect, and celebrate all Jesus has done for us.

We also looked at John the Baptizer’s recognition of Jesus as the Lamb of God. This is told in just a few scriptures, but exploring the depth of what happened is powerful.
Jesus’ mother, Mary, and John’s mother, Elizabeth, were cousins, making John and Jesus cousins. We aren’t told in scripture, but we imagine they must have spent some time together. Maybe they played together as children or hung out at family gatherings as teens. Even if they never spent any time together, John had to know that His cousin was the awaited Messiah. He had to hear the story of how he leaped in his mommy’s tummy when Mary arrived for a visit.
Considering these things, recognizing Jesus would not have been a big thing. But it was not only a big thing, it was a God thing! John didn’t say, “There is my cousin, Jesus”. He didn’t say, “There is the one they say is the Messiah.” John said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John recognized who Jesus is, and He recognized Jesus’ mission. He came to save us!
This week, we will look at the times Jesus told of His impending death. The disciples did not understand what Jesus was trying to say to them. They must have thought, “Why is Jesus going to die before He establishes His Kingdom?” This week, we will also examine Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The people shouted, “Hosanna, Hosanna,” hoping King Jesus would overthrow Rome. But Jesus came (at this time) to save. He is the Lion of Judah, but at this moment, He came as a Lamb, the Redeeming Lamb of God!
This week, let’s continue to celebrate Jesus and why He came. He came to save us! (Thank You, Jesus.) Passion Week also starts this week on Day 6. Let’s focus our hearts and study on not just gaining information but on pure devotion to Jesus, the Worthy Lamb of God.
