Hello Family!

Welcome to Week 1 of our new Embrace the Word study—Built to Last: How The Word W.O.R.K.S. in 1 Peter!

I am so incredibly excited to dive into this powerhouse of a book over the next 30 days. If you’ve been feeling the weight of the world, dealing with personal trials, or just feeling a bit out of place in our modern culture lately, this study was written with you in mind.

This week, we are laying the groundwork. We are stepping directly into the first century to meet Peter and the scattered believers he was writing to. They were living under intense cultural pressure, isolated and facing friction every single day just for choosing to follow Jesus.

Peter didn’t write them a fluffy letter telling them to just “think positive.” He handed them a gritty survival guide. This week, we are going to look at:

Our Identity: Remembering who we are when the world tells us we don’t fit in.

The Purpose of the Fiery Trials: Understanding how God uses seasons of testing to refine our faith, not destroy it.

The Power of Our Anchor: Setting our minds for action and fixing our eyes on eternity.

Our Key Verse for this study is:

Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.

1 Peter 1:23

Peter encouraged the believers with this truth: Earthly things rot, fade, and shake. But the seed of God’s Word inside you is imperishable. Your foundation cannot be destroyed by the storms of this life. You are secure.

If you’ve been here for a while, you know I like to say, “the Word W.O.R.K.S., we are walking in Wholeness, Obedience, Righteousness, and Kingdom Success.” In this study, we will use this statement as a guiding principle.

As you read, write, and study, open your journal, grab your favorite pen, and let’s run our daily readings through this lens. Look for where God is establishing your Wholeness, directing your Obedience, refining your Righteousness, and redefining your Kingdom Success.

Have you joined our community? A faith Built to Last isn’t built in isolation. Each day, we share a post featuring an excerpt from the daily reading. I encourage you to visit our community space (Facebook or Instagram) occasionally and leave a quick comment to share what God has revealed to you or simply to let us know you’re here! I’d love to hear from you! Don’t wait until Day One. Drop in today! Tell us where you are joining from and one specific area where you need God to build you up this month.

You can engage in this study in many ways

  • The 30-Day Reading/Writing Plan: A daily roadmap through 1 Peter and supporting scriptures.
  • The ETW Devotional Guide: Daily observation questions, devotionals, and “Pause, Prayer, Practice, and Praise” prompts are designed to help us reflect on and respond to God’s Word.

The cultural currents out there might be shifting, but let’s keep our feet planted on the Rock.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope. —Romans 15:13

Grace and Peace,

💛Your Bible-Loving Bestie
