Embrace the Word August 2022: Hope, the Anchor for Our Soul
It’s August! There is still a ton of summer left! The temperatures are still high, and the daylight still pushes far into the evening.
Despite the bright summer season, cold and darkness seem to overshadow so many. So many are drowning in hopelessness. But every seed of hope can spring forth into a great harvest.
And we know we can find our hope in the Lord.
Hebrews 6:18 says that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
God’s divine character gives us something to cling to when hopelessness tries to invade our lives. He cannot lie when He makes a promise, and He cannot lie when He makes an oath. Therefore we can cling to Him in the storms. We can cling to Him in the night.
This hope, therefore, becomes an anchor for our very souls. Instead of drifting off into hopelessness, we can stay firmly anchored to the steadfast love of God. We can look expectantly for God’s promises in our lives because we hold on to this truth–He cannot lie! Every promise we have in Him will come to pass.
-Hope is what we cling to when we cannot cling to anything else.
This Month’s Embrace the Word theme is Hope: the Anchor of Our Souls.
We will read, write, and study passages that inspire hope. Beautiful passages like:
For You are my hope, O Lord God; You are my trust from my youth. By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. Psalm 71:5-6
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. Lamentations 3:25-26

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil. Hebrews 6:19
-Hope is the sense that something good will happen despite the things we see.
