Ruth: Loyalty, Loss, and the God Who Restores Week 2
Hello Sparrow’s Song Family!
Welcome the new Embrace the Word Study (ETW), Ruth: Loyalty, Loss, and a God Who Restores.
In Week 1, we grappled with the “Moab” seasons of our lives. We watched Naomi and Ruth walk through the heavy silence of loss and make the grueling 60-mile trek back to Bethlehem with nothing but a vow. We learned that loyalty is a source of strength that supports us during times of emptiness and bitterness.
This week, we step into Chapter 2 and experience the field of grace favor. This week, the scenery changes. We leave the dusty road and enter the harvest fields. As we study Ruth Chapter 2, we will explore the providence of God. We will see Ruth “happen” to find the right field. This was no happy accident, but the result of God’s divine orchestration.
In chapter 2, we meet Boaz, the owner of the field, and see how his protection and kindness are a “Gospel Preview” of our Savior, Jesus, who notices us even when we feel like foreigners.
And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “May he be blessed by the Lord, whose kindness has not forsaken the living or the dead!” Naomi also said to her, “The man is a close relative of ours, one of our redeemers.” Ruth 2:20
We will also continue to explore The Shadow of the Wing: We will lean into our anchor verse, Ruth 2:12, learning what it practically means to take refuge under the wings of the Almighty while we work and wait.
This week, don’t just “glean” for information; “glean” for transformation. Let what you study be a guidepost for your daily living.
“May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.” — Ruth 2:12
Let’s keep embracing the Word together!
