Standing on The Word 10/20/20
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin,and no deceit was found in His mouth. When they hurled their insults at Him, he did not retaliate; when He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He entrusted Himself to Him who judges justly. 1 Peter 2:21-23
Are you suffering? Is what you are going through right now a ‘hard affliction’? Know that suffering and trials are part of the process. You have been called to go through with grace, to suffer with a level of dignity. How?? Well, we’ve been given an example, Jesus Christ. He suffered for our sake and showed us how to endure. As 1 Peter 2:23 says, Jesus entrusted His life to His Father, who judges justly. Jesus honored God, even during suffering. He committed no sin—not with actions or with words. He chose, instead, to honor God with His life, knowing that the Father would take care of Him.
In times of suffering, entrust your life into the hands of the Father. Choose to honor God with your life. Honor is not situational. Make a decision to honor God no matter what it looks like. Do your best not to sin with words, actions, or in your heart. Commit to not becoming bitter. Do not be moved to retaliate. Hold your head up, trust God with your life, and know that you have been called to this!
