We have made it to the end of 2021! In the past week, Christmas has taken center focus in the hearts and homes of many.
Tinsel, lights, gifts, family, food–all of these are part of what defines Christmas for most. The beauty and wonder of the holiday hustle and bustle can make us forget the most wonderful part of Christmas–Jesus Christ.
Because so many things compete for our attention, it is vital to make purposeful efforts to keep Jesus at the forefront of our hearts and minds.
Spiritual disciplines like prayer, worship, and reading and writing scripture will help you intentionally keep Jesus at the forefront of your celebration. You will get closer to God by engaging in His Word. You will also come to know and appreciate the greatest gift ever given or received–Jesus!
This month’s Write the Word theme is Come, Let Us Adore Him. May our hearts draw nearer to Christ more than ever before.
This month we will write beloved passages like:
- And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14
- And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation. Luke 1:46-50
- And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:12-14
As you write this month, remember Jesus! He is the reason we have hope. He is the reason we have eternal life. He is the reason we celebrate!
