Write The Word- February 2021
It’s February! It is the second month of the year and already, so many have been overwhelmed by responsibilities, relationships, career goals, health crises, and this pandemic. There are so many things that have the potential to rob us of our joy, peace, and rest.
Sometimes, we just need to pause. We need to stop, reflect, pray, and be refreshed. In the Psalms, the word “Selah” often appears. Selah is a musical term that, in Hebrew, means “pause and reflect.” The psalmist invites the singers, musicians, and hearers to pause and think about what’s been said (or sung).
This Month’s Write the Word theme is: A Time for Selah. As we write God’s Word this month, let’s intentionally pause and make time for reflection. When we do this, we create openness for revelation, renewal, and refreshing. We also position our hearts to hear from God, and to receive from His word.
This month, we will explore many passages of scripture that ask us to pause and reflect on the wonderful aspects of our God. We will write passages such as:
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah. Psalm 46:1-3
and
Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! Selah. Psalm 24:9-10
As you write this month, intentionally pause to reflect on the weight and the significance of God’s words. Through the word, experience God’s protection, love, majesty, and providence like never before. Open your heart to hear from God in a new and fresh way. May you find comfort as you pause and allow the Word of God to soothe your soul.
I would love for you to join us. I would also love to hear from you. I would love to here how God speaks to you during this month. Join the Sparrow’s Song Facebook Group here.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace,
Erica
