Write the Word – October 2021
Hello, Sparrow’s Song Family!
Fall is here!
Fall is my favorite season. I love to see the changing of the leaves. I love to feel the crisp, cool morning breeze. And I am a boot and sweater kind of girl.
In nature’s seasons, we recognize and experience changes. It is the same way for the seasons of our lives. Some changes are positive, bringing new joys, adventures, and excitement. Other changes are challenging, bringing pain and discomfort. Know that God is faithful in every season. Sometimes, in challenging seasons we find it difficult to cry out to God. We want to pray, but the words seem difficult to find. In times like these, I find comfort and relief in praying the Word of God. Praying scriptures, particularly the prayers found in scripture can breathe fresh winds into your prayer life.
This month’s theme is Powerful Prayers from the Bible. This month we will see biblical characters cry out to God in times of distress and in times of joy.
This month we will write prayer found in scriptures like:
Jabez’s Prayer
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. 1 Chronicles 4:10
Hannah’s Prayer on Praise
And Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; My horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation. “No one is holy like the Lord, for there is none besides You, nor is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:1-2 (1-10)
And
Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer
“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are John 17:9-11 (1-26)
Writing these powerful prayers will help you relate to people of faith who cried out to God in every situation. You will be reminded that you can cry out to God and find help in times of trouble; You can cry out to Him when you are at the end of yourself; You can lift praises to Him for His goodness and mercy.
