Anchored:Hope In God’s Promises Week 1
Hi Sparrow Song Family,
Welcome to Week 1 of the new Embrace the Word Study, Anchored : Hope in God’s Promises, a study of Acts 27 and 28. I am thrilled to have you join us.
This month is all about holding fast to His Word when the storms of life begin to rage. We will be spending 31 days diving deep into Acts 27 and 28, following Paul’s dangerous journey from a shipwreck to a distant shore.
You may be asking, “Why study such a specific passage of scripture?” Because Paul’s real-life journey is a metaphor of the storms we face. Like a stormy sea, life can be unpredictable. Winds can shift, waves can toss. Like Paul, we find ourselves in a storm where “neither sun nor stars appear for many days” (Acts 27:20). In those moments, we need to be anchored.
Our key verse in this study is:
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
Throughout this study, we will explore:
- How to stay tethered to God’s promise so that we don’t drift.
- How our hope is secure because it is anchored in the faithfulness of God
- How can we continue to trust God, even in the fiercest storm
Together, we’ll explore what it means to be truly anchored—secured by a promise so firm that no storm can sweep us away. Every journey of hope begins with a Word from God.
You can engage in this study in many ways
- The 31-Day Reading/Writing Plan: A daily roadmap through Acts 27 and 28 and supporting scriptures.
- The ETW Devotional Guide: Daily observation questions, devotionals, and “Pause, Prayer, Practice, and Praise” prompts are designed to help us reflect on and respond to God’s Word.
Let’s dive deeply into scripture to see what God is saying to us. Let us dive into the beautiful, deep wells of scripture as we learn to anchor our souls not in our circumstances, but in the unchanging promises of God.
