Welcome to Week 3 of our study—Built to Last: How The Word W.O.R.K.S. in 1 Peter!

If Week 1 was about our foundation, and Week 2 was about our collective identity, Week 3 is where we put on our heavy armor. Peter is taking us from the blueprint straight into the battlefield of our minds.

Peter knows that standing firm in a hostile culture requires more than passiveness; it demands spiritual fortitude. He tells us that to survive under pressure, we must adopt a completely different mindset before the conflict ever arises. This week, we are going to look closely at:

  • The Mindset of Christ: Grounding our expectations in the reality of Jesus’s suffering, knowing that walking in His footsteps means we will face suffering.
  • Spiritual Readiness: What it means to mentally prepare for spiritual battles ahead of time so that we choose the unchanging will of God over cultural conformity.
  • The Refining Fire: Understanding how enduring through cultural pressure and trials helps to break the grip of sin and refine our faith.

Our Key Focus Verse for this week is:

“Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.”

1 Peter 4:1–2

Peter tells us to “arm ourselves.” A building does not survive an earthquake because the builder scrambles to reinforce the beams while the ground is shaking; it stands because it was deliberately engineered for the crisis long before the ground ever shook. We cannot wait for a crisis to decide what we believe or how we will act.

As you read, write, and study this week, let’s continue running our daily readings through our Word W.O.R.K.S. lens:

Look closely at the text: Where is God restoring your Wholeness when external pressure rises? Where is He calling for Obedience to His will rather than cultural desires? How is He refining your Righteousness through the trials you face, and how is He redefining true Kingdom Success as keeping your integrity intact while enduring a difficult season?

Do not study in isolation! Head over to our community spaces on Facebook or Instagram today. Engage with the daily excerpt posts, drop your thoughts in the comments, and share how God is reinforcing your mind this week. I am reading your comments and keeping your journeys covered in prayer daily. Or message me directly for prayer and encouragement. I’d love to hear from you.

The culture continues to shift, family, but our mindset is locked into the Rock. Let’s stand firm.
