Hello Family,

Welcome to Week 4 of our study—Built to Last: How The Word W.O.R.K.S. in 1 Peter!

Last week, we challenged ourselves to arm our minds with Christ’s mindset, choosing the unchanging will of God over cultural conformity. It was a powerful reminder that spiritual endurance starts with a deliberate, upfront decision.

This week, we want to look at Week 3’s catch-up verse:

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105

Verse 105 employs synonymous parallelism, with both lines conveying the same message. However, what sets them apart is their emphasis. The psalmist’s use of the word “light” would have resonated with the original audience, as the Hebrews associated light with all that is true and good. God’s Word serves as that light in our lives.

The Word is a lamp for our feet, guiding our daily living. Each day, we should turn to the Word of God to discern His will for our lives. We should look to the Word to lead and guide us. It is also a light to our path, helping us discover truths that shape our entire lives. The Word of God acts as a guidebook for life. When we choose to live by His truth, He illuminates the path ahead. When we, like the psalmist, resolve to fully embrace the Word, we find not only direction but also the joy and peace that comes from living in His eternal truth. God’s Word is our ultimate source of guidance for today and tomorrow.

When Peter warns us to be sober-minded and watchful in a hostile world, Psalm 119 provides us with the essential tool to do so: the Word of God. Life in Christ isn’t lived randomly; it is anchored in the Word of God.
