May is here!
The fifth month of the year brings warmer weather, seasonal celebrations, and graduations. May is full of holidays and other celebrations. Summer is just ahead of us.
Though the year is moving on, sometimes we find ourselves in a cycle of waiting. And, let me tell you, waiting is NOT my favorite thing to do. In life, we wait for answers,we wait for change,we wait to see the hand of God move in our lives. We wait for so many things, and the wait can be long and hard, but through it all, God is faithful. For believers, waiting is not passive but it is an active process of trust and dependence on God.
This month’s Embrace the Word theme is “Wait on the Lord.” Through scripture, we will see how waiting on the Lord can strengthen our hearts and bring us peace. We will be encouraged to actively wait on our God, who is always moving and working for us.
This month, we will explore passages that encourage us to wait for God’s answers:
Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.
We will be inspired to wait in hope:
Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, Just as we hope in You. Psalm 33:20-22
We will see, through scripture, that there are blessings in waiting:
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14
We will also see how we should posture our hearts as we await the return of our Savior:
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. James 5:7-8
I would love for you to join us as we Embrace the Word. God’s rich Word is life-changing and life-given. So come alongside us as we Embrace the Word, and allow the Word to embrace you.
