We have come to the final days of the Embrace the Word study on “The Bold Church: Built on Christ, our Firm Foundation.” Thank you for joining the Sparrow’s Song community in this study, but there is still more to come. There are three more days to go, so there is a devotional guide for this week; I am still sharing your reasons “why we love the church” (on FB and IG), and we have a guest writer this month who will be sharing about the multigenerational church.

With so much opposition from outside and within the church, we must lift up the church! We have gained so much from this study:

Here are some of the things we’ve gained:

We learned more about our identity. We’ve come to understand our identity as the body of Christ, the family of God, and the community of believers. This reinforces the importance of unity, fellowship, and mutual edification in the church. We are the Church! Ephesians 2:19-20

We learned more about the church’s role, mission, and purpose. Understanding this can motivate believers to actively participate in ministry, outreach, and service. This empowers individuals to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond. We have work to do! Ephesians 2:10

We learned more about our spiritual growth and maturity. Studying the church has provided guidance on how to live out one’s faith in community, serving others, and spreading the Gospel. We come to know and understand that judgment starts in the House of God. We must grow up! 1 Peter 2:1-3

We learned more about how the church helps to promote unity, fellowship, and mutual edification. We understand more about doing life together, walking in love, accountability, and support within the body of Christ, and fostering a sense of belonging and community. We do life together! Acts 2:42-47

We learned more about the church, which helps us see its beauty. In a world where so many are renouncing their faith and turning their backs on the church, we should be defending it. We will only defend it if we see its value and beauty. Scripture shows us the beauty of Christ’s love that should be reflected in the church. Christ fiercely loves the church; we are beautiful because we are His! He Loves Us! Ephesians 5:25

Overall, we learned that the church is essential for nurturing faith, fostering community, fulfilling the Great Commission, and living out the teachings of Jesus Christ in a practical and impactful way.

We will end our study this week looking again at doing life together; this time from Hebrews 10:24-25

[24] And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, [25] not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
