Running With Endurance: A Study of Hebrews 11 & 12 Week 3

Hello friends,

Welcome to Week Two of Embrace the Word: Running With Endurance — our study through Hebrews 11 and 12. We are just about halfway through January, and hope you are still feeling the momentum to RUN!

(Link to the FREE Devotional Guide at the end of this email)

This week, we’ll continue observing the heroes in the Hall of Faith—reading their stories, noting how they trusted God through waiting and hardship. Seeing how they maintained enduring faith and steadfast devotion should be examples that guide our own steps.

As we do that, I want us to hold Psalm 119:32 in our hearts:

I will run the course of Your commandments,

For You shall enlarge my heart.

I will run the way of Your commandments [with purpose],

For You will give me a heart that is willing. (AMP)

The psalmist captures a surprising rhythm—obedience leads not to constriction but to expansion. When we follow God’s ways, he opens our capacity for courage, compassion, and endurance. Obedience becomes fuel for our faith! It loosens fears, steadies our pace, and widens our vision so the race feels less like a burden and more like a purpose.

As we run in God’s way, according to His Word, God gives us the capacity to grow and obey Him even more. Let that promise encourage you as you study the Hall of Faith this week. Their lives show what steady trust looks like; this verse reminds us why we can keep running: God is enlarging the capacity of our hearts as we obey, giving the strength to persevere and the hope to press on toward His promise.
