Hey family!

Welcome to Week 2 of our journey through the Psalms of Ascents! I am so incredibly proud of you for staying committed to this climb.

Last week, we focused on tuning out the loud, critical noise of the world so we could lock our eyes onto the Master’s hand, waiting expectantly for His grace. We looked back at the storms that could have drowned us, celebrating those dream-like moments where God broke the enemy’s hidden traps and made a beautiful way of escape for our souls.

But let’s be real for a second; even after experiencing a massive breakthrough, it is so easy to transition straight into a new season of rebuilding and find ourselves completely overwhelmed. We start grinding, overthinking, and trying to secure our lives, our families, and our projects using our own effort, strength, or willpower.

That is exactly why our memory verse for this week is such a gentle, necessary wake-up call for our tired souls. Let’s commit these words to heart together over the next few days:

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest,

eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep.”

— Psalm 127:1-2

It is completely futile to rely on your own strength. God never asked you to eat the “bread of anxious toil,” waking up before the crack of dawn, staying up into the wee hours of the morning, and constantly agonizing over the outcomes. You can lay every single brick, but it is God alone who gives the ultimate success.

This week, we are studying about the True Rest that only comes for God. We are learning how to take our hands off and step off the treadmill of anxiety. Our Father loves you too much to watch you wear yourself out with worry. He wants to exchange your exhaustion for His sweet, peaceful rest.
